In the history of mankind, some of its greatest achievements are in the structures it has built. From the Pyramids to skyscrapers, the mind of man has come up with some of the most amazing structures that makes us stand back in awe. Many of these structures are built out of necessity. Then again, some are built to see if there are limits to where our imagination can lead us. Just as the picture above which shows a tennis court that was put on top of the 1,000 foot Burj al Arab Tower in Dubai, mankind can build things to the extreme.

The Panama Canal is a man-made 48-mile (77 km) waterway in Panama that connects the Atlantic Ocean with the Pacific Ocean. France began work on the canal in 1881, but stopped due to engineering problems and a high worker mortality rate. The United States took over the project in 1904, and opened the canal on August 15, 1914. One of the largest and most difficult engineering projects ever undertaken.-----

It is the largest object ever to be moved by man across the surface of the Earth.
Simply an amazing feat of engineering and work done by an ancient civilization. To this day, we really do not know how they were built. However, we have a good idea in how they could have done this.
